SAG Awards Favorites

Awards season is in full effect. Naturally, I always get excited for the red carpet more than the actual award show. Here’s a quick run-through of some of my favorite looks from tonight’s festivities.

Givenchy Goes to Williamsburg for Pre-Fall

Looks like Givenchy explored outside of high-fashion shoots when its Pre-Fall 2012 collection hit one of Brooklyn’s most popular neighborhood, Williamsburg. The collection serves up a range of looks to for just about anyone and features an interesting high-knee boot. I’m pretty much obsessed with the lace/abstract/leather combo at the end. Never disappoints. Check it.

What’s That Jacket, Margiela?!

No contest. No words. Just ingenious creation. Maison Martin Margiela has literally just done it again. This entire Pre-Fall 2012 collection practically embodies what makes MMM the name it is in fashion today (minus the Kanye lyrical plugs). That effortless and edgy swag is done to perfection. See for yourself.

Viktor & Rolf Pre-Fall 2012

The dark and lovely side of Viktor & Rolf Pre-Fall 2012 collection is steady with what we saw last year in terms of patterns and edge. Softer fabrics and a lot more flow have been added to the dark palette along with pops of gold tones and exaggerated lines and frill. Still keeping it BAWSE-like, as it should be.

Celine Gets Texture Happy for Pre-Fall 2012

So the texture aficionado is officially in a state of “holy sh*t”-ness. That, of course, would be me. Celine’s pulled out all the stops in the creation of a line that goes above what one could possibly imagine when it comes to texture combination. What I love most about the Pre-Fall 2012 collection is the exaggeration on every piece. Leather and fur meet heavy wools, soft silks and sleek satins for looks that compliment the collection’s neutral palette.

Enough with the descriptive, see for yourself.

We’re All Outsiders in a Way [Band of Outsiders Pre-Fall 2012]

So, the band has done it again. “Done what,” you ask? Swagged’ out the basics. As we saw with the Fall 2011 collection, Band of Outsiders makes your ordinary wardrobe, not-so-ordinary. Feminine appeal intersects with the world of the adolescent boy in this collection when rough edges, heavy textures and varsity jacket inspirations meet light patterns, bows, and accentuated waists.

Looks range from day to night, keeping consistent with the casual image the brand aims to convey. And duh—the leather accents make the collection 10 times better.

Check under the cut for more flicks.

Flaunting fringe seems to be Brian Atwood’s aim for his Spring 2012 collection “B Untamed”. As always, showing the ladies that there should be no shame in showing your sexy.

Happy Anniversary, Alber. Lanvin Loves You.

And so it begins… Collections are beginning to come out of the woodwork as the time for garment madness and mayhem, better known as Fashion Week, gets closer (first week starts in Milan, 1/14-1/18)…and I’m back on my posting binge, so let’s start this off this right way.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Alber Elbaz’s tenure with Lanvin. Seems like the designer has taken a celebratory stride with the looks for the Pre-Fall 2012 collection. With talks of opening a Madison Avenue menswear location (which is rumored to have an interesting architecture and design upon completion), Alber takes the collection in a different direction by experimenting with a variety of fabrics and lots of emphasis on volume this go-round. Common theme here is a bit femme fatale meets a 1930-40s Greta Garbo inspirational swag. All I know is that when fur, lace, leather and silk are combined, a love child of pure genius is sure to be bred.

See under the cut for more images of the collection.
